Important DAYS

 Hiroshima day is observed on August 6 every year to promote peace politics. It is the day when in 1945 an atomic bomb was dropped in the city of Hiroshima, Japan.  The bomb was equivalent to the power of 12-15,000 tons of TNT and known as Little Boy.   American bomber Enola Gay dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945.  . It reduced four square miles of the city to ruins killing almost 80,000 people and injuring about 35,000.  After three days another atomic bomb was dropped in Nagasaki, Japan. This bombing ended Second World War.  The annual event is organized by the Galway Alliance Against War in Eyre Square. It marks the anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States in 1945.  To promote "peace politics" the Galway Alliance Against War holds the event every year with various programs like music, song, dance, etc.

 Every year on 1st August National Mountain Climbing Day is observed.  It is said that the day was established in honour of the author's son, Bobby Mathews, and his friend Josh Madigan, for successfully climbing the 46 High Peaks of New York State's Adirondack Mountains. National Mountain Climbing Day promotes mountain climbing and celebrates the fact that it helps in maintaining good physical health.  Mountain climbing is an adventurous hobby for many people and has its challenges.  In 1965, Avatar Singh Cheema became the first Indian to climb Mount Everest.  Before Avatar Singh, fifteen foreigners had already climbed the highest peak of Mount Everest.  The first Indian woman to climb Everest was Bachendri Pal who did so in 1984, at the age of 30.

 International Day of Friendship  is observed on 30 July to advocate the role that friendship plays in promoting peace in various cultures. International Day of Friendship promotes the role of friends in life.  A friend is a person that you can always rely on and is considered as closest to you. Someone trustworthy, genuine and accepts you for who you are. International Friendship Day is an initiative of the proposal made by UNESCO. It defines the Culture of Peace as a group of values, attitudes, and behaviours that reject violence and make efforts to prevent conflicts by finding their root causes to solve several problems.  The United Nations General Assembly adopted it in 1997. The International Day of Friendship was proclaimed in 2011 by the UN General Assembly with the idea that friendship between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.

 International Tiger Day is observed every year on 29 July to spread awareness about the need for the conservation of Tigers, promote the protection of the natural habitat of tigers. This day is also known as Global Tiger Day. To raise awareness about the declining tiger population in the world. The day encourages the work of conservation of tiger. Theme of  2021 - "  Their survival is in our hands" The day was founded in 2010, when the 13 tiger range countries came together to create Tx2 – the global goal to double the number of wild tigers by the year 2022. 

 World Hepatitis Day is observed annually on 28 July.  THEME OF 2021 - " HEPATITIS CAN'T WAIT " THEME OF 2022 - "BRINGING HEPATITIS CARE CLOSER TO YOU" This day make people aware of the hepatitis disease and its consequences in the life of the people suffering from it. It is celebrated to raise awareness about viral hepatitis which is an inflammation of the liver that causes various problems like liver cancer. Hepatitis virus has 5 main strains namely A, B, C, D, and E. The most common deaths are caused by together hepatitis B and C.  According to WHO-  1,100,000 deaths per year are caused by Hepatitis B and C infections - 9,400,000 people are receiving treatment for chronic hepatitis C virus infection. The World Nature Conservation Day is observed annually on  July 28 .  The occasion aims to create awareness about the need to preserve the environment and natural resources in order to keep the world healthy. Saving plants and animals that are threatened with extinction is one of the primary focuses of the World Nature Conservation Day. THEME OF 2021 - " Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Plane t"                        The celebration emphasizes on  keeping the various components of nature such as flora, fauna, energy resources, soil, water, and air intact.  As M.K. Gandhi says - "  EARTH PROVIDES ENOUGH TO SATISFY EVERY MAN'S  NEEDS, BUT NOT EVERY MAN'S GREED."

  Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed on 26 July to commemorate the victory of the Indian soldiers over the infiltrating Pakistani troops. This year is the 23rd anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. Kargil War, also known as the Kargil conflict, was fought between May-July of 1999 in the Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir along the Line of Control (LoC) in which India got the victory. Therefore, the day is dedicated to the martyred soldiers of the Kargil war. On 3rd May 1999 Pakistan started this war when it had infiltrated into the high altitudes in the rocky mountainous region of Kargil with around 5000 soldiers and captured it.  When the Indian Government got the information about it ‘ Operation Vijay ’ was launched by the Indian army to throw back the intruders who had treacherously occupied Indian Territory.

 On 25 July 1978 , Louise Joy Brown became the first baby to be conceived through IVF (In vitro fertilization ) and hence  the day is  celebrated as World Embryologists Day every year. Embryologists play an important role in an IVF clinic. They help in making babies happen or we can say that creating life in their hand. Embryologists are those who study sperm, eggs, and embroys. They will be able to determine which sperm , eggs and embroys are the healthiest and can be selected for IVF treatment.  Sometimes they are also reffered to as 'caretakers' of patients' sperm, eggs, or embryos because they are the nurturers of this new start of life

 National Parents Day is observed on the fourth Sunday in July and in 2022 it falls on 24 July.  This day is celebrated to honour all the parents who play a vital role in the lives of children.  Their unconditional love and sacrifice for their children can't be measured. National Parents’ Day is celebrated in many different countries all over the world.  It was proclaimed an official day by the United Nations, yet it has also been honored in the United States ever since 1994. This is when it was signed into law by President Bill Clinton.  The day was established as one for recognizing, supporting, and uplifting the role of parents when it comes to raising children around the world.  It was Trent Lott , a Republican Senator, who actually introduced the bill.

  Pi Approximation Day is observed on 22 July every year because of the value of Pi that is 22/7. While Pi Day is observed on 14th March. Pi APPROXIMATION day is also known as Casual Pi Day, the day is dedicated to the mathematical constant pi (π). Pi denotes the relationship between a circle’s circumference and its diameter and is denoted by the fraction 22/7 which calculates approximately to 3.14. People in countries that write their dates in the date/ month format celebrate Pi Approximation or Casual Pi Day on my 22 July or 22/7.  On the other hand, those who write their date in month/ date format celebrate Pi Day on March 14 (3/14 or 3-14) because the first three digits of the date correspond to the first three digits of pi - 3.14.

 July 20th commemorates the day man first walked on the moon in 1969. NASA reported the moon landing as being “… the single greatest technological achievement of all time. ” On July 20, 1969 , Apollo 11 carried the first humans to the moon.  Six hours after landing on the moon, American Neil Armstrong stepped onto the lunar surface . He spent two and a half hours outside the spacecraft.  Buzz Aldrin soon followed, stepping onto the lunar surface. The day doesn’t just celebrate the landmark mission. It also celebrates future missions. Private expeditions are taking humans further into space. In 1971, President Richard Nixon proclaimed National Moon Landing Day on July 20th to honor the anniversary of man’s first moon landing. However, no continuing resolution followed.

It is easy to   break down and destroy.  The heroes are those     who make peace and  build .                                      On 18 July every year, we celebrate Nelson Mandela International Day by making a difference in our communities. The first UN Mandela Day was held on July 18, 2010 .  Everyone has the ability and the responsibility to change the world for the better! Mandela Day is an occasion for all to take action and inspire change. World Day For International Justice is observed every year on 17 july. It is also known as the Day of International Criminal Justice or International Justice Day.  This day recognise the emerging system of international criminal justice.   July 17th 2002 - was the date of the adoption of the treaty that created the International Criminal Court.  In June 2010, at the Review Conference of the Rome Statute, the Assembly of State Parties decided to celebrate July 17th as the Day of International Criminal Justice.

  World Snake Day on July 16th urges increased awareness of the wide variety of 3,500 species around the world.  Among the 3,500 species, only about 600 are venomous.   According to the World Health Organization, only about 200 of those pose a significant risk to human life. The world’s smallest snake is the Barbados thread snake. This serpent is smaller than a nightcrawler at about 4 inches.   The longest snake is the reticulated python, and the heaviest is the green anaconda. Reticulated python Green Anaconda 

12 June is being observed  as the world day against child labour every year since 2002. International Labour Organization (ILO) - a organization of United Nations (UN) recognised 12 June as world day against child labour in 2002. It was spurred by ratification of ILO convention no. -138 which deals with minimum age for employment which is  basically 15 years and the ILO convention no.-182 which deals with worst form of child labour and was adopted on 1992. Theme of this year (2019)- "Children shouldn't  work in field , but on dreams." Last year(2018) theme was-" Generation safe and healthy." Every year this day is observed, so that everyone can focus their attention on the global extent of child labour and can  take actions to eliminate it. But still there is lack of awareness .
