12th JUNE -World Day Against Child Labour

12 June is being observed  as the world day against child labour every year since 2002. International Labour Organization (ILO) - a organization of United Nations (UN) recognised 12 June as world day against child labour in 2002. It was spurred by ratification of ILO convention no. -138 which deals with minimum age for employment which is  basically 15 years and the ILO convention no.-182 which deals with worst form of child labour and was adopted on 1992.

Theme of this year (2019)- "Children shouldn't  work in field , but on dreams."

Last year(2018) theme was-" Generation safe and healthy."

Every year this day is observed, so that everyone can focus their attention on the global extent of child labour and can  take actions to eliminate it. But still there is lack of awareness . Goverment should take measures to aware the people ,only then this hurtful situation of children can be prevent.

Approximately 152 million children are still in labour. Seven out of 10 children are still working in the agriculture field.
There is also worst forms of child labour which includes children working in hazardous environment , prostitution, human trafficking ,etc.

This all can be prevent just by the awareness of the people. If the people of the surrounding are aware and takes measure like hinting the police, etc then many children can be prevented from undergoing the hazardous situation.
