World Hepatitis Day is observed annually on 28 July. THEME OF 2021 - " HEPATITIS CAN'T WAIT " THEME OF 2022 - "BRINGING HEPATITIS CARE CLOSER TO YOU" This day make people aware of the hepatitis disease and its consequences in the life of the people suffering from it. It is celebrated to raise awareness about viral hepatitis which is an inflammation of the liver that causes various problems like liver cancer. Hepatitis virus has 5 main strains namely A, B, C, D, and E. The most common deaths are caused by together hepatitis B and C. According to WHO- 1,100,000 deaths per year are caused by Hepatitis B and C infections - 9,400,000 people are receiving treatment for chronic hepatitis C virus infection. On World Hepatitis Day 2022, WHO is highlighting the need for bringing hepatitis care closer to the primary health facilities and communities so that people have better access to treatment and care, no matter what type of hepatitis they may have.
