28th JULY - WORLD HEPATITIS DAY

  •  World Hepatitis Day is observed annually on 28 July. 

  • THEME OF 2021 - "HEPATITIS CAN'T WAIT"
  • THEME OF 2022-"BRINGING HEPATITIS CARE CLOSER TO YOU"


  • This day make people aware of the hepatitis disease and its consequences in the life of the people suffering from it.
  • It is celebrated to raise awareness about viral hepatitis which is an inflammation of the liver that causes various problems like liver cancer.
  • Hepatitis virus has 5 main strains namely A, B, C, D, and E. The most common deaths are caused by together hepatitis B and C. 

  • According to WHO- 
  1. 1,100,000 deaths per year are caused by Hepatitis B and C infections-
  2. 9,400,000 people are receiving treatment for chronic hepatitis C virus infection.
  • On World Hepatitis Day 2022, WHO is highlighting the need for bringing hepatitis care closer to the primary health facilities and communities so that people have better access to treatment and care, no matter what type of hepatitis they may have.
  • WHO aims to achieve hepatitis elimination by 2030. To get there, WHO calls on countries to achieve specific targets:

    • Reduce new infections of hepatitis B and C by 90%;
    • Reduce hepatitis related deaths from liver cirrhosis and cancer by 65%;
    • Ensure that at least 90% of people with hepatitis B and C virus are diagnosed; and
    • At least 80% of those eligible receive appropriate treatment.

16th JULY- WORLD SNAKE DAY

  World Snake Day on July 16th urges increased awareness of the wide variety of 3,500 species around the world.  Among the 3,500 species, only about 600 are venomous.   According to the World Health Organization, only about 200 of those pose a significant risk to human life. The world’s smallest snake is the Barbados thread snake. This serpent is smaller than a nightcrawler at about 4 inches.   The longest snake is the reticulated python, and the heaviest is the green anaconda. Reticulated python Green Anaconda 

25th JULY- WORLD EMBRYOLOGIST DAY

 On 25 July 1978 , Louise Joy Brown became the first baby to be conceived through IVF (In vitro fertilization ) and hence  the day is  celebrated as World Embryologists Day every year. Embryologists play an important role in an IVF clinic. They help in making babies happen or we can say that creating life in their hand. Embryologists are those who study sperm, eggs, and embroys. They will be able to determine which sperm , eggs and embroys are the healthiest and can be selected for IVF treatment.  Sometimes they are also reffered to as 'caretakers' of patients' sperm, eggs, or embryos because they are the nurturers of this new start of life
