1st AUGUST- NATIONAL MOUNTAIN CLIMBING DAY

  •  Every year on 1st August National Mountain Climbing Day is observed.

  •  It is said that the day was established in honour of the author's son, Bobby Mathews, and his friend Josh Madigan, for successfully climbing the 46 High Peaks of New York State's Adirondack Mountains.

  • National Mountain Climbing Day promotes mountain climbing and celebrates the fact that it helps in maintaining good physical health. 

  • Mountain climbing is an adventurous hobby for many people and has its challenges.
  •  In 1965, Avatar Singh Cheema became the first Indian to climb Mount Everest.
  •  Before Avatar Singh, fifteen foreigners had already climbed the highest peak of Mount Everest. 
  • The first Indian woman to climb Everest was Bachendri Pal who did so in 1984, at the age of 30.

25th JULY- WORLD EMBRYOLOGIST DAY

 On 25 July 1978 , Louise Joy Brown became the first baby to be conceived through IVF (In vitro fertilization ) and hence  the day is  celebrated as World Embryologists Day every year. Embryologists play an important role in an IVF clinic. They help in making babies happen or we can say that creating life in their hand. Embryologists are those who study sperm, eggs, and embroys. 30th JULY - INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP DAY

 International Day of Friendship  is observed on 30 July to advocate the role that friendship plays in promoting peace in various cultures. International Day of Friendship promotes the role of friends in life.  A friend is a person that you can always rely on and is considered as closest to you. Someone trustworthy, genuine and accepts you for who you are. International Friendship Day is an initiative of the proposal made by UNESCO. It defines the Culture of Peace as a group of values, attitudes, and behaviours that reject violence and make efforts to prevent conflicts by finding their root causes to solve several problems.  The United Nations General Assembly adopted it in 1997. The International Day of Friendship was proclaimed in 2011 by the UN General Assembly with the idea that friendship between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.

26th AUGUST - Women's Equality Day

 This day commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which granted the women right to vote.  In 1971, the U.S. Congress officially recognized August 26 as Women's Equality Day. The date commemorates the 1920 certification of the nineteenth Amendment to the Constitution, granting women the right to vote.  The day also calls attention to women's continuing efforts toward full equality. Before the Civil War in the United States, the movement for women's suffrage was started. Most of the states in the U.S by the 1830s have extended voting rights from rich white male property owners to just white men regardless of how much property they owned. During the 1890s, the National American Woman Suffrage Association emerged and it was headed by Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Idaho and Utah had given women the right to vote before the end of the decades.
