23th AUGUST- European Day of Remembrance for Victims of Stalinism and Nazism

  •  This day is observed on 23 August every year as a remembrance day for victims of totalitarian regimes mainly Communism, Fascism, Nazism, etc.
  •  It is also known as Black Ribbon Day in some countries. 


  • This day also symbolises the rejection of "extremism, intolerance, and oppression".
  • The purpose of the Day of Remembrance is to preserve the memory of the victims of mass deportations and exterminations, while promoting democratic values to reinforce peace and stability in Europe. 
  • The remembrance day has been officially observed by the institutions of the European Union since 2009.

30th JULY - INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP DAY

 International Day of Friendship  is observed on 30 July to advocate the role that friendship plays in promoting peace in various cultures. International Day of Friendship promotes the role of friends in life.  A friend is a person that you can always rely on and is considered as closest to you. Someone trustworthy, genuine and accepts you for who you are. International Friendship Day is an initiative of the proposal made by UNESCO. It defines the Culture of Peace as a group of values, attitudes, and behaviours that reject violence and make efforts to prevent conflicts by finding their root causes to solve several problems.  The United Nations General Assembly adopted it in 1997. The International Day of Friendship was proclaimed in 2011 by the UN General Assembly with the idea that friendship between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.

12th JUNE -World Day Against Child Labour

12 June is being observed  as the world day against child labour every year since 2002. International Labour Organization (ILO) - a organization of United Nations (UN) recognised 12 June as world day against child labour in 2002. It was spurred by ratification of ILO convention no. -138 which deals with minimum age for employment which is  basically 15 years and the ILO convention no.-182 which deals with worst form of child labour and was adopted on 1992. Theme of this year (2019)- "Children shouldn't  work in field , but on dreams." Last year(2018) theme was-" Generation safe and healthy." Every year this day is observed, so that everyone can focus their attention on the global extent of child labour and can  take actions to eliminate it. But still there is lack of awareness .
