17 JUNE- WORLD DAY TO COMBAT DESERTIFICATION AND DROUGHT

Every year ,17 JUNE is being observed as WORLD DAY TO COMBAT DESERTIFICATION AND DROUGHT .


THEME OF 2019 - "LET'S GROW THE FUTURE TOGETHER"
THEME OF 2020 - "FOOD, FEED, FIBRE - SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION AND                                                           CONSUMPTION"
THEME OF 2021- "RISING UP FROM DROUGHT TOGETHER"
THEME OF 2022 -"RISING UP FROM DROUGHT TOGETHER"

AIM - 1) to promote awareness of international efforts to combat desertification.
            2) to remind everyone the land degradation neutrality is achievable through problem solving ,                strong community involvement and cooperation.
            3) to aware people of their sense responsibility .

This year UNITED NATION CONVENTION TO COMBAT DESERTIFICATION (UNCCD)  mark the 25 anniversary of the convention in ANKARA , hosted by the government of TURKEY.
LIFE ON LAND is the 15th goal of sustainable development goal (SDG) 2030 agenda. The goal 15 states our resolve to halt and reverse land degradation.
DESERTIFICATION - Desertification is the degradation of land in arid, semi- arid and dry sub humid areas. It is caused primarily by human activities and climatic variation.

 On 25 July 1978 , Louise Joy Brown became the first baby to be conceived through IVF (In vitro fertilization ) and hence  the day is  celebrated as World Embryologists Day every year. Embryologists play an important role in an IVF clinic. They help in making babies happen or we can say that creating life in their hand. Embryologists are those who study sperm, eggs, and embroys. They will be able to determine which sperm , eggs and embroys are the healthiest and can be selected for IVF treatment.  Sometimes they are also reffered to as 'caretakers' of patients' sperm, eggs, or embryos because they are the nurturers of this new start of life

23th AUGUST- European Day of Remembrance for Victims of Stalinism and Nazism

 This day is observed on 23 August every year as a remembrance day for victims of totalitarian regimes mainly Communism, Fascism, Nazism, etc.  It is also known as Black Ribbon Day in some countries.  This day also symbolises the rejection of "extremism, intolerance, and oppression". The purpose of the Day of Remembrance is to preserve the memory of the victims of mass deportations and exterminations, while promoting democratic values to reinforce peace and stability in Europe.   The remembrance day has been officially observed by the institutions of the European Union since 2009.

13th AUGUST - INTERNATIONAL LEFTHANDERS DAY

 The day is observed on 13 August to celebrate the uniqueness and differences of the left-handers. It is an old saying that "right-handed people operate on the left side of the brain, which means that left-handed people are functioning on the right side. International Lefthanders Day was launched by the Club as an annual event on 13th August, 1992 when lefthanders everywhere can celebrate their uniqueness and also increase awareness in the public about the advantages and disadvantages of being left-handed. In 1990, the Left-Handers Club was formed with an objective to keep members in touch with developments, create their views known to manufacturers and others. There is not yet any definite reason why some people are left-handed but it is said that about 13% of the population around the world is left-handed and it is thought to be genetic, it definitely runs in the families.
